the past 48 hours have been, quite possibly, the two best consecutive days i have ever had in my life. i have had such an amazing time, in fact, that i am going to force you to revel in my giddiness.... (i fucking love digital cameras)

yesterday PBE & i went to hollywood so we could see my favorite band play at my favorite venue and so that i could show him some pieces of my world & my hometown.
the drive was fucking awesome. i remembered why it is that i love california so god damn much....

being home was rad as fuck.
seeing say anything play at the troubador was radder.
hung out on sunset for a minute...
then took him to see the real hollywood. ate at nova.
word. we had a disgustingly good time.

then...today we went out with no idea what we were going to do. we saw a tiny music shop and decided to check it out. PBE sat and figured out three seperate parts of a song he's been writing on a keyboard, a guitar & a banjo while i geeked out on old music theory books that were stacked on the floor in dusty boxes. there is nothing hotter or awesomer than a cute boy that doesn't mind wasting hours on my impulses, can play any instrument he picks up and has a passion as big and all consuming as my writing.
then, we drove up to the old mission to do what we thought was going to be the standard tourist sightseeing.
it is a gorgeous little chunk of preserved history, up on a cliff overlooking the ocean, surrounded by a bunch of odd little parks that go up into the mountains.

on a rather kick ass little tangent, we decided to explore the park across from the mission. we ignored every no trespassing sign and went every way except for where the hiking paths led. we discovered a buried statue, a hidden pond, and a poliwog. we did not have sex behind a rock. we broke into an abandoned house, saw plants we never even knew existed and sacrificed one pair of perfectly good pink slides to the greater good of exploration and tree climbing.

dreams are the things we want in our secret minds but are too realistic to believe in. dreams are the flawless things in an imperfect world, in inperfect hearts of imperfect girls. i have the same dream every night & every morning when i wake up, i have forgotten it. i fell asleep & i had the same dream that i have every night. the one that i forget every morning when i wake up. it's the one about perfect days and irrationally happy girls and things so beautiful that you have to turn your eyes away, overwhelmed.

then i woke up and realized that i was never asleep at all.

Oh my goodness. What a beautiful real-life dream! Those are the best! So beautiful that you've shared it. I've been writing up a storm. Yes.

e.g.:

mirrorglass may shatter

doesn't matter what i think i thought i heard you say
you'll not be the one to chase me away
no victims in this consolatory dance
we're all family here, no one's shown up here by chance

no, doesn't matter what you think you thought you heard me say
we're going to follow this through, you and i,
we're going to break through to the light, to day,
we're all one here, and mirrorglass may shatter,
but it still reflects. reflects. reflects.

come
what
may

loose leaves
"like loose leaves we're falling/
with no way of holding on"

- nova scotia, from "loose leaves"

you know, i have heard it all
and i am done with excuses
bowed head, treading water
humbling won't begin to explain it

believe me, i can't bother to and know
you simply can't be bothered
(life's too short)

with no way of holding on, like
loose leaves we're falling
might as well enjoy the scenery
even in our stumbling we
somehow always manage to
maintain a modicum of
grace

of natural dignity

i wish that i could plan what that might
look like in advance

but my Darling, me i fall
(and fall and fall)
too fast
