Have you ever had a lucid dream?
A lucid dream, if I remember a special on the Discovery Channel I saw a few years back, is a dream in which you realize you're dreaming. Thus, freed from any consequences, you can do whatever you want.
I've only had one. I was driving my family's Ford Aerostar down the highway, when I realized... "I don't have a driver's license, and I'm in Japan! This is a dream!" So I sped up and drove off the road into the woods, and jumped off of a ramp into a lake. Right at the apex of the flight, just as I began to fall, I woke up.
Last night I ALMOST had one. I was at this club with all sorts of beautiful women, including but not limited to Dierdre, Ryker, and Eirian and I realized... there's no way I could be hanging out with them at this point in time. So I started asking them if it was a dream. They shrugged and we chatted about lucid dreamsfor a bit, and then suddenly I was at the bar with a redhead, and somehow I closed this huge wrought iron gate and as I did, I accidently touched the redhead on her ass. Security showed up and pulled me into the back with her, and said that I wasn't supposed to touch her. I tried to explain it was an accident, and while she was quite lovely, I was not the sort of guy to touch a lady's posterior uninvited. They seemed unconvinced, but let me stay in the club. I pondered whether or not it was a dream for what seemed like hours, trying to decide whether the possible gain outweighed the risk. The chances of it being a dream were very good, but if by some strange freak chance I was at this club for reals, with no memory of how I got there, it would very much suck to get beat up or tossed in jail or killed.
Then I went to this remote controlled airplane show, where the parking lot attendant told me I had to park a couple miles away. I said "OK!" and then drove offroad to a parking space. REALLY offroad, along 60 degree banks and such, which my car could never handle in real life. I went to the trunk to get my plane out, and the empennage (tail section) was sticking out of the middle of my trunk! And it was inflatable, and all bent. I was distraught. I looked at everyone else with their real remote controlled planes, and watched them fly them around, and then I woke up.
I've never had a dream where I thought it MIGHT be a dream, and talked to people about it being a dream.
That's what I get for getting two hours of sleep and then surfing SG for three hours before going back to sleep.
