subject: Genearal Annoyances
maybe i'm getting too old for conan obrien. the only thing i could think of while watching it was ''please spare me''. for some time i've thought the show was decently funny and always appreciated his self depreciating humor. it was charming.
the politcal jibes last night (as every night i magaine) were only made at the clintons and were amazingly juvenile. i'm a staunch supporter of hillary clinton but am mature enought to admit that there are some holes in her campaign (none nearly as large or troubling as others). they choose to attack her because they can take the lowest, least serious cracks. there are some very troubling issues w/ obama and even more so w/ mccain but they choose to totally ignore these in favor of sophomoric, meaningless attacks hillary clinton.
every little slip up is magnified and dissected. no other candidate is so picked apart.
it would seem to me that society has expected her to abdicate any femininity, or even any human-ness, ie: making mistakes, being emotional, being passionate, having flawed interpersonal relationships (and despite all these shortcomings has some how managed to raise a daughter who is well educated and ladylike and would appear against all odds, to be a well functioning member of society...unlike...i dont know...the bush twins)
in summation i guess i expected just a smidge more from obrien.
i'm more entertained by keith olbermann on MSNBC. (even though he wears way too much stage makeup)
Prom Night... what the fuck? have we regressed 20 years? arent there already at least 100 movies w/ this same basic outline? even some of the worst scary movies to come out in the last couple of years had some orginal ideas. the grudge remake was at least a unique concept. it had some good ideas, though not well executed. and unfortunately had only one scene that was really high quality and geniuinely scary.
i'll even admit that Hostil (as god awful and predictable as it was) did for backpacking in europe what Jaws did for going to the beach... put a fear in your subconscious.
at least Saw had a really original concept. i wont fault it in that department. it also but that subconscious fear in you and made you think ''what would i do in that situation?''
why is everything so dumbed down? is it just me? the only things on tv that i dont find totally insulting are programs on the discovery channel, history channel, etc and crime shows. the plots are usually very predicable but at least my intelligence isnt being totally insulted.
i hate that CSI Las Vegas (the only good one in the series) reruns are only on Spike. this means i have to suffer through a Girls Gone Wild ad on every commercial break. they make me nauseous. i've blogged extensively about this before of course...
i think the fact that Fascinations doesn't even carry the girls gone wild series speaks alot about the franchise.
in fascinations there are rows upon rows UPON ROWS of dvds, their covers showing young girls covered in semen, huge blown up pictures of girls being fucked in the ass, even pregnant porn star (bella donna) in an all girls dvd...
but they dont consider Girls Gone Wild a quality enough product to be carried in their stores.
