so i went out today to refill the hummingbird feeders. the little things have been downing sugar water like crazy lately. so i get one taken care of and go to the other that's in front of the window. now there's this huge black and yellow garden spider that has built itself a web on that same window. the feeder is hung higher than i can reach, so i have to just try and bump it off. so i give the bottom a shake to see if the web's connected to it or not. the last thing i want is a face full of angry spider plus web.
sure enough, they're connected. but as soon as i bump the feeder, the web starts shaking violently. the spider makes its way to the top of the window. meanwhile i'm getting divebombed by angry hummingbirds either chasing each other around or trying to chase me away from their food.
so the spider gets to the top of the window and launches itself down the 10+ feet to the ground. it then runs straight for me. i run inside screaming, much to my cat's amusement, i'm sure. what excitement. i still think it's out there waiting for me. someone else can refill the second feeder.
