Two years ago, I had the huge dream of moving to Greece to open a bed and breakfast wit ha friend of mine. We decided to wait until after the Olympics to do the move since it would be too hectic prior. Since that time, that friend and I have lost contact with each other.

Such is life.

I have never really watched the Olympics before this year. I don't really care for sporting events, so watching two weeks worth of just that never really turned me on. It started as a joke watching women's archery but then it became an obsession. I loved watching everything there was, it didn't matter if it was gymnastics or the marathons, I was going to watch it and I liked it.

Watching these people win made me so elated and proud just to be a human being. I cried with them, literally, and hoped the underdog would win. Everyone was just remarkable; everything was just remarkable. Watching the closing ceremonies last night, I don't think I've ever been so at peace in a long time. It seriously amazed me that in one central location, the whole world can gather for a common cause and be at peace. Although I know there were scandals and anamosity between the teams, but during those last hours, the atmosphere turned to this celebration of the human soul and I couldn't help but feel like I was right there with them, holding the torch and hoping that the 2008 Beijing Olympics will be just as amazing and just a celebration rather than a competition.

In retrospect, I wish we moved to Greece as soon as we graduated. Wouldn't it been something to have actually been there?

It would have been hot, dusty and full of Americans - you can get that at home!

I'm sure you'd have had a fun time in Athens. If you'd have been there frown
