I woke up this morning, thinking about my Mom and all of the awesome memories made while I was growing up. Radio is my career. I program two radio stations where I live. One of which is running all 70s music which is reminding me of my childhood. My Mother was the lifeguard at the neighborhood pool in the complex where we lived. She used to wear one of those giant sun hats with big-ass Elton John sunglasses while listening to all of the music we're playing on the radio station this weekend. I can still see her in my head, with zinc oxide coating her nose so she doesn't get it burned, while being lathered in baby oil to get tan. Oh man ...the 70s were a wild time. Oh! I know where I was going with this ....I called my Mom to tell her I love her. I got the answering machine. No worries. I'll get her on the phone later. If you haven't called your Mom lately, give her a buzz. Reminisce over some fun memories when you were a kid.
Thanks for taking a moment to read this. Cheers!

This was such a heartwarming read, thank you for sharing it. I could picture your mom so vividly with the sun hat, those fabulous Elton John sunglasses, and the zinc oxide nose! What a vibe the 70s were. It’s so sweet that the music you play now brings back those memories. You’re right, it’s easy to forget to reach out to the people who shaped us. This was a beautiful reminder to call our moms and take a little walk down memory lane with them. I hope you got through to her later ❤️

Hey, @rare! Thanks for the comment. I was able to get her on the phone a couple of days later. Her memory of back then isn't as clear as mine so she gets a little frustrated with me when I bring up some things. I'm just excited to relive those moments with her. She's one of a kind, that's for certain.
