Introduction

Here's a little sample of what my free time and extra spending money has been over taken with for the last two months. Thankfully it is all but done now, just a few finishing touches and its there. In the first picture I failed to capture the crop out on the sub-floor which was basically the entire area that you see in the second picture. I had to wait two weeks from the time of the first picture before I could start putting everything back together to make sure all the existing materials were completely dry before installing the new matterials. The floor itself ended up being a 4 day evolution once the install process began, which of course was Labor Day Weekend. Day 1 was patch the floor joists and the sub-floor, and apply the latex sealent, which required 24 hours cure time. Day 2 was reframe the walls, and mortar, place and anchor the cement board, which also required 24 hours to cure. Day 3 was mock up, cut to shape and mortar the tiles in place which, you guessed it, also took 24 hours to cure. Day 4 was grout between the tiles which actually took 7 days to fully cure, 24 hours cure time prior to be ready for foot traffic. Surprisingly the trickiest thing that I had to figure out was how to re-position the toilet, being as the back of it use to be against the wall that is currently to its left and facing the wall to the right. The thing that surprised me the most upon reaching my current point in the whole project was the fact that the bathroom actually feels bigger than it did before, even though the new cabinets, counter and mirrors actually take up more area than the old ones did. UPDATE!! As you can see, I've gotten the cabinet handles on all the drawers, doors and tip out trays, as well as hung a few more glass shelves, and even added a second drawer box to the two larger drawers to add storage space for smallers things so they don't get lost in the larger drawers.
