...here's something I wrote not too long ago

First to Break, Last to Fall


Close your eyes and dream,
Sleep soft and enter this fantasy;
Fly somewhere far away,
Go to places you may never see.

It's all an escape from reality,
A new truth in this constant insanity
Wishing for the brighter road.
As you drift into this incandescent sanctuary.

Smiles drift as memory fades,
Thoughts abound in this mind of mine.
With open eyes brings a new day;
A foreboding eternity trapped in decay.

Tireless in this desire
For another chance to hide these eyes,
To drift again to my surreal sanity;
And find an explanation to my humanity.

With open mind I can feel it drift,
Skew my thoughts and bend perception,
Caught in this hundred mile stare;
Finding my way afar from this pain.

Confusion the source
Of a supreme lack of control,
A helpless feeling of inadiquacy;
When friends are taken away.

When anger makes transformation,
Assuming the state of rage;
Why do good men have to pay?
What I would give anything to delay.

And as they fall away from me,
One by one they will leave my sight.
And as they move on far and away,
They will go on with life, without misery.

But my pain will persist,
Unending as it is,
As my tears reach their bitter end,
My heart may begin to mend.

While not one understands,
This turmoil that I endure;
I still keep it hidden
To hide myself once more.

This may be the end,
But I feel in my heart
That there will be more to follow
More doubt and more sorrow.

For as they fall,
Closer it will leer,
To those I hold dear,
So here I sit waiting,
For my final call;
And forever I shall stay,
Until the end of it all.
