Last night I saw Judas Priest. Judas Priest!
And the best part was that it was completely fucking free! You see, yesterday was my buddy Luke's birthday. Luke works at Emeril's. One of the regulars at the emeril's bar is a promoter, and the other day she showed up with a stack of about a hundred tickets, including tickets to Judas Priest and John Melloncamp. Well, as it was Luke's birthday, he asked for as many of the Priest tickets as he could get. And he got 28. What better way to celebrate a birthday?
Anyway, it was pretty awesome. They opened with Electric Eye, and Halford walked onto the stage out of a big, well, electric eye. The whole time he was wearing this overcoat covered with either sequins or pyramid studs, but the overall effect under the light was definitely "SEQUINS!" I was walking around asking the older people around "Seriously, how didn't you know he was gay? Look at what he's wearing! Come on!"
They played everything wewanted them to, including "Hell Bent for Leather," "Painkiller," "Turbolover," "Breakin' the Law," and, of course, they closed with "You Got Another Thing Comin'." Fantastic.
