Today is the 60th anniversary of D-Day. It's now time to go watch The Longest Day, Saving Private Ryan, and, just for fun, Patton.
And this is random, but to anyone who, in the face of the recent Iraq conflict, ragged on the French because "we saved their asses in WWII" needs to go read a fucking book sometime. American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy crying "LaFayette! We have come to return the favor!"

nice bit of history there [both the pic and the Lafayette reference]. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey just off of Lafayette Avenue.
