Tonight I went and saw Thrice and Poison The Well at The Masquerade. I wasn't planning on going at first, but my friend was going alone so he bought me a ticket. I'll go to almost any show for free.
Damn but I'm glad i went. Poison The Well was alright; they were better the last time I saw them, and I don't really like them anymore anyway. But jesus, Thrice was fucking awesome. They played a lot of old stuff, which is good because their new cd kinda sucks, and they didn't play the only song I really don't like (it's about Icarus and Daedelus, and though I usually like lit nerd songs and Thrice does a lot of them and does them well, this one is a failure).
Seriously, I was pulling out dance moves I haven't used since I quit going to metal shows four years ago. It was fucking AWESOME. I was drenched when I got out.
We met up with some old friends who go to UGA at the show (Geoff and Joe).
At one point Geoff, Joe and I were all screaming the words and pumping our fists in unison; Catie thought it was the greatest thing in the world (for those not in the know, Catie is my best friend and she has a thing for Geoff and used to have a thing for Joe).
As a side note, I would just like to point out that I am much tougher than kids are today. I needed room to dance, but the only open space was in the pit, so I waltzed in and started dancing. My fucking DANCING was more hardcore than this stupid push pit, and every time someone tried to hit me I pushed them out of the way with ease. And I was fucking dancing. Kids today are pussies.
And on that note, I am old, so I'm going to bed.

The last concert I went to involved a lot of standing politely.
Way back in the day, I almost had my face broken in the pit for an I Mother Earth concert. I literally got swept up off my feet (not crowd-surfing - just caught up in the rush of the pit) and thrown towards the stage, very nearly having a high-velocity run-in with the bassist's effects pedals, which in that brief moment all seemed to have been chosen for their size and sharp corners.
Good times.
