October is here. WE ARE IN THE HOMESTRETCH 8 days til HALLOWEEN!!!!! O I'd thought I'd start with a new list.

Adrian's Top 5 Halloween Specials

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

At Number 5 is the Orson Welles' radio adaptation of H. G. Wells' classic novel The War of the Worlds was performed by Mercury Theatre on the Air as a Halloween special on October 30, 1938. The live broadcast reportedly frightened many listeners into believing that an actual Martian invasion was in progress.Welles's adaptation is possibly the most successful radio dramatic production in history.

Why This? because in an age now of being constantly globally connected...I love the idea that back in the 30s one little incident sparked a panic

At Number 4

The Disney version of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow they use to play it after the afternoon shows and sometimes at night. Why this version...well as a kid...hearing Bing Crosby sing that song and the harrowing chase with Ichabod and the Laughing Horseman...Scared the crap out of me....Come on...You see a flaming pumpkin coming at you as a kid...well leaves you damaged....

At Number 3 is a toss up between the Fat Albert Halloween Special

Which pitted Albert and his gang against a spooky old lady. For me, watching this on CBS was classic. I use to love seeing the bum eat all their candy as they told the story.
The Tie is of course...

is the Simpson's Treehouse of HORROR(MUHAHAHAHAHA) They are not scary but use to be sooo much fun.

At Number 2 Is Garfield's Halloween Special

In the 80s, those Garfield comic compilation books were extremely popular, so the cartoon was a must see. Almost everyone in my class had a complete set of those books, and by the time Garfield got his own cartoon which feigned cool wit and had tons of musical numbers involving ants (the greatest songs of all time, actually) ...we were hooked.

There's no life-altering plot here, just cat and dog getting scared at a haunted house. It's worth seeing for one very good reason: Odie's theme music. I know I'm not the only one who noticed that whenever Odie walks on-screen, he's accompanied by crazy trumpet music. Definite drinking game potential there. After some debate, they decide to dress like pirates. Garfield and Odie decide to go trick or treating after hearing a scary tale from John's Grandfather. They venture into this haunted house. Now, what I remember is the fact that there isnt alot of music once the ghosts start a comin...They are hiding and think they are safe until suddenly this white light passes through the cracks in the wall and fills the dark recesses with a ghost of a human SKULL.

And at Number 1.....Isnt it obvious????

Every Year I still Watch this one. And for some strange reason...I always wish Linus would finally meet that Damn pumpkin and get the presents. I still wish Charlie brown got something other then rocks. Its funny...I went as charlie brown and the ghost costume was for halloween...Alot of people didnt get it....

I went to the SG burlesque show here in NYC last night...I think it was good. I say think because I got there late and couldnt see(DAMN MY HEIGHT)so I rent to the balcony...Climbed up on some chairs, hung from a pipe and watched some of the show. I got to see Nixon and Reagan outside... Then hung out with the SGNJers for a minute. It was cool.

Speaking of Garfield, I found those old McDonald's or Burger King Garfield coffee mugs from the late 70's.. Haha.. There a classic.. I missed the SG Philly show.. I wanted to go, but not alot of people share the same interests as myself.. So I didn't feel like making the journey as a loner.. I think I have that Simpsons Halloween Special on VHS somewhere.. I taped basicly them all..
