Off my damn rocker...
Maybe not. I'm on a quest to find a fulltime job I would actually enjoy, that could pay the bills, and these are the positions I've decided would work for me. Don't laugh too hard now. They all involve the sort of experience which I can say, except for commercial fishing and veterinary related, is limited at best:
Commercial fisherman/deckhand on an Alaskan fishing vessel
Cruiseship hospitality
Resort hospitality
Ranch/farm hand, yes, I have worked a damn ranch before
Dairy farm laborer
Front desk clerk at Chisos Lodge in Big Bend
Vet Tech in one of a million places, ughhhh
So, the one thing all these positions have in common, is that they aren't here in Austin. I'm tired of Austin, and truth be told, I'm tired of Texas. I have a bug up my butt to travel, extensively. Unfortunately, traveling requires money. Money I don't have. I suppose if I were to be realistic about it all, I'd get some piss ant peon job for the time being and squirrel every dollar I earned away, but that just isn't how I roll. No, I'm going to wait until I find something I like, because for the past 8 years I've worked 50+ hour weeks at jobs I hate to make ends meet. Screw that. I don't particularly care for being broke and leaching off my mom, but for the time being, it works. Besides, she still owes me money she borrowed 4 years ago, and no small sum either.
I don't relish the idea of leaving Texas before my grandparents die, seems the least I could do is hang around and see to it that their last days are good ones, but I'm going stir crazy. This town is getting me down. At the least I need a traveling job, or a series of temp jobs with time in between assignments to roam about.
I suppose my recent journey to Florida made one thought alarmingly everpresent in my mind. I have very little time to do what I really want to do. The older I get, the less time I have, and the more rapidly the time I have passes. My father died at 60 years old. He had been retired since he was 33, and he still had oodles of things he wanted to do and see before his death. It's obvious I will not be retiring in my early thirties, so I'd better get on it.
That said, if any of you geniuses have a great idea for a job or very very cheap travel opportunity, please don't hesitate to leave a comment. And FraktalPaul, I know you are going to leave some bitch ass comment on my job choices, I see it coming

As for the picture, glad you dig it. I actually took that one with a fujifilm MX-2900 which is like 2mp and now days can be bought off ebay for like $10. it takes AMAZING pictures for its low megapixel. The only drawback is the image size maxes at something like 640x480 or 800x600 I forget which. But if you don't mind the size its a super badass camera for the price. I also use a Nikon coolpix 3100, and sometimes a Fujifilm S2 Pro Digital SLR that I wish I owned
