There's nothing wrong with being shy. I mean, it sucks for the person who *is* shy, especially when you come across the wrong way, but it's just a part of life. It's funny. I am perfectly comfortable in front of a ton of strangers, but in a more intimate setting, I get something like stagefright. Go figure.

Cheap hotel soap is the worst! (that and shitty hotel shampoo) The trick is to stock up on the mini soaps and shampoos when you stay in a nice place. I have much to teach you young Jedi. Oh ya, a beer always helps-Laputa is correct!

Hi again. Meant to remember more of the Profile info for discussing at BBQ. Also liked Jesus' Son; the first time I saw it I stopped, but it's feel/visual style nagged at me and I rented it later and really liked it. Also, wonder if you saw Palahniuk's book about Portland, Fugitives & Refugees. It's the only one of his I've read all the way through, but I like reviews of Lullaby and want to read it sometime.

I had a friend who had the Hitchhiker's Guide one; also, Douglas Adams was in town on a PBS radio show in the mid-'80s, and I remember him giving instructions to a caller re: the game.

I set up a tape to record the interview while I got on the phone to call, but I set up the goddamn tape wrong and didn't get more than a fraction of it!
