I had just finished playing on the computer when it happened. I collapsed.

I awoke in the ER on the stretcher, surrounded by my friends from work. A doctor was telling me that it was going to be ok.

I had 3 IV's in me, all with fluids and drugs to keep my heart pumping and my lungs breathing.

I had gone into cardiac arrest, mostly likely from a cardiac arrhythmia that has plagued my family for years.

I was tearful, but happy. I was surrounded by my friends and I knew they were going to do everything in their power to help me.

A tear rolled down my face, I was so happy to be alive. Then I heard the alarm on the heart monitor.

My heart rate was dropping.

My pulse, which was in 80's, was now in the 50's. I started feeling lightheaded. I told the nurse and she yelled for the doctor to come back in the room. 40, my heart rate was still dropping, I felt sick to my stomach.

The doctor yelled for his equipment and for the respitory techs. 30, I could barely keep my eyes open. I remember saying I love you and then my eyes were to heavy to keep open.

The last thing I remember was hearing them scream for the paddles. Then the words clear, and I felt what could only be described as a sledge hammer to my chest.




Then I woke up.



In my bed, at home. My chest hurt, as if I had been hit by a car.

Man I hate those dreams!
