so far i went to 1 party but before i blog about my Halloween in general i just want to share with you with my next 2 nights before Halloween!
SAMHAIN, which is the band Glen Danzig formed after The Misfits broke up (just noting for those who don't know the Danzig back story) is playing here tomorrow, Wednesday, in Philly at The Electric Factory! Danzig is ONLY playing as Samhain and who knows maybe he will through in some Misfits even though Samhain did cover Horror Business. i have seen all reunions of Danzig/Misfits/Samhain except the infamous 1999 first official reunion of Samhain. i am so fucking excited. last time Samhain was resurrected, it was on the Legacy tour and i went to New York City to attend because that was the only closest date. it snowed in October! and pumpkins all along the streets of NY.
PENTAGRAM, Thursday at Johnny Brenda's, the next night!! which is "Mischief Night" as we call it. for those not familiar, Pentagram started out in the early 70's as a hard rock/post punk/metal but get the most credit for starting the "Doom Metal" vibe. as in the first song off the first album "First Daze Here" it just has a natural heavy sound. they never got off the ground due to member conflicts and the legend that is, Bobby Liebling. the singer that has kept Pentagram alive until today, has battled drug addiction and to keep a full line up. but no matter what you say about them, they are the pioneers of doom metal along the god fathers Black Sabbath. the last time i saw Pentagram was quite recent, within this year or last year. i have a blog with pictures from that show. i cant wait to see them again. that show i managed to get Greg(bassist) pick and the set list. this time i hope to somehow meet Bobby!!
i am excited to see both these bands back to back. an incredible way to bring in Halloween and to lift my spirits(i am in need of, but wont get into) even more in my favorite time of year.
low note: i keep seeing the advertisements for the SG Blackheart Burlesque and i sadly am disappointed i may not attend this years, November 9th, which is soon. :*( i went to last years and it was so awesome! i just really dont have spare cash at the moment.
