crowded through pine needles today. my dog kept up, valiantly in her old age. got bit. my blood is delicious. left a libation at a birch tree in exchange for a little gift. draped in white cotton now, beads, silver earrings, nothing left to do. it's been raining. i woke at four and listened to the birds. they could challenge any jungle environment. the sun wasn't up but they sang, sang to the morning, sang to being alive. i'm not sure if people can do that. i'm not sure if people are meant to do that.
