Ok, I was gonna play it safe this year and hide at home for New Years eve. I get a call from a friend in North NJ saying he's having a thing and they live on the beach so you can see NY city across the water. WTF I think, why not. I get there only getting lost once, a personal best, and walk in. It's him and his girl...and her parents. Ok again, beer.
So I start to drink and hope to god some of their friends will show as I begin to have her mom open photo albums and talk to me about Jimmy Buffett.
New plan, everyone decides to go to the local bar for the count down. Sounds like a plan to me so we're off. We get there and WOW. Dive bar is an understatement but the Ball is on tv, I have a beer and a buddy. 40 seconds before the ball drops the DJ blows a fuse, the tv and everything else go off. 15 secs and we get power back. Happy New Year!!!
A few couples start to dance, one lady starts to try and cut in on two people dancing, there's some kind of ruckus and the guy falls down and has a heart attack!!! The DJ doesn't stop the whole time. He's singing "One more Saturday Night" and nobody can get him to stop. EMTs' show up, guy seemed ok and we left. That's a fucking night
