My store's third-in-command manager was fired today for theft. I never would've thought he would steal. He'd been with the company for quite a while and I'm sure could've gone quite a bit higher up the corporate ladder. So now I'm number 3 and will probably have to put in more hours since we'll be short a manager. This around the holidays and the other managers all still have vacation time. I'm not sure why they're allowed to take it now since it's supposed to be black-out days for time off. I suppose if nothing else, this will be a good opportunity for me to "step up to the plate" and help out so I'll have a better chance of getting my transfer to Phoenix in a few months.

Omigod. I am a lucky bastard. As some or none of you may know, Billy …
Just wanted to drop in and offer some encouragement and some ideas for your group SPACE ROCK.
First, good idea. I'm more of an old-man dinosaur band guy (P.Floyd, Dead, Allmans) but 60's psychedelia jam bands are sort of the trunk that all other flavors of space rock branch out of. And I'm always on the lookout for something fresh and new and different. Some of the bands that have been mentioned in the group are people I've never heard of and the next time I make a trip to the local musicstore I'll take along a list and see if I can find any of 'em.
Second, the guitar effects thread was a good idea, too. Even though it didn't get much response, I like reading other musicians opinions about junk like that. There is actually a big musicians presence within the group, I looked at profiles and there are 13 guitar players and 1 bassist. Which brings me to my suggestion. How 'bout more threads about musician-related stuff? (guitars)
You're a guitarist, so I thought this idea might fly with you. And I see that you're not a member of Suicide Guitars, which is rather shrewd. Because the majority of members in that group are somewhat_clueless. You're probably aware that you're not missing anything in there. Actually I was recently banned for dissing the owner. Maybe it was a dumb thing to do, but he's a douche. SG rejected my application for an alternative guitar group, and I think it's a bit shortsighted to allow the genre of guitar stuff to be locked in the stranglehold of one persons' limited scope of music and life experience.
So, anyway, what I'm saying is, would it be alright if I satisfied my guitar jones in your group? I could keep it relative to spacerock; alternate tunings, techniques of particular artists and producers, funky gear, etc. NO threads about dumb shit like "who's the best guitarist?" or some such nonsense. That's boring. Think of it as having an editor, a guitar department editor for your group. Whaddaya say?
Let me know what you think. Aloha and Thanks.
i hope your new position isn't too stressful and that you get your transfer to good ole AZ
