Now I remember why I fuckin' hate retail so much.
We match competitors' prices on the same products. The rule is supposed to be that you bring in an ad/coupon/etc from another store and we'll give you the same price if it's lower. Apparently, there are a few people who got the lower price once and have been bringing in their past receipts with that lower price as proof that they should get a discount. I talked to one of my managers about this about a month ago and she told me people have been doing that for too long and they need to bring something in from another store for us to continue to do the price matching.
This old bitch came in tonight wanting a lower price on cat litter. I asked if she had a coupon/ad/whatever. She said no and that we always do that for her and she's been coming here for years and blah, blah, blah. I told her my manager spoke with me on this very issue and that we need to see something from the competitor with that price. She started getting all pissy and saying how she didn't have time for this. I apologized but again told her my manager passed this down and I couldn't go over it.
After she finished paying for her stuff, I saw her walking towards me. She asked my name and wrote it down while telling me what a horrible manager I am and I don't know what I'm doing and I've insulted her and on and on. I told her AGAIN that I was only carrying out what my manager told me. Then she starts bitching about how there's no reason cat litter should cost this much to begin with. I told her I have no control over that. She said she's going to call our corporate office about all this and I need to learn how to manage a store. I told her I'm well aware how to manage a store and AGAIN told her that I was doing as I was instructed by my superior. The cashier later told me that the hag called me a jerk after I walked away. Bitch.
If I ever get so old that going to a fucking pet supply store is my reason for living, just shoot me. I don't see how not saving a couple dollars on CAT LITTER is going to throw her universe into a state of chaos and disorder. Oy fuckin' vey.
