Yesterday, I made a trip to a fantastic Mexican restaurant, Dona Maria's, that we used to go to frequently, but not so much anymore, to pick up a dozen tamales for Christmas dinner. While I was there I also picked up albondigas soup for Mrs. DeadGuitarist and a chimichanga and chicken quesadilla for me. (The quesadilla is my lunch tomorrow.) The reason we don't go there very often anymore is simply because we don't live near it anymore.
For Christmas Eve dinner, we were planning to go out for Chinese, either PF Chang's or Pei Wei, but Mrs. DeadGuitarist broke a rib a two weeks ago (kind of a freak accident... but she didn't find out until this past Friday). She is in quite a bit of pain. Anyway, she didn't want to go out, so I went to a small Chinese place near the house, China A Go Go, and got take out. We had a nice dinner while watching something on TV. She went upstairs and crawled in bed and I got on the computer in my man cave looking at guitar stompboxes since I got an Amazon gift card from my in-laws yesterday. I'm planning to replace and/or augment the stomp boxes on my pedalboard with some nano pedals (really small) to maximize the number of stompboxes I can fit on it. Anyway, it's a little surprising that they send us stuff for birthdays and Christmas since we don't have much to do with them most of the time. I also spent some time on SG. Oh, and I played a little Shadowrun: Dragonfall on Steam.
This morning I got up about 9 AM, went downstairs and wished Mrs. DeadGuitarist Merry Christmas and made some iced tea. She was watching Thor on TV. I headed back upstairs to catch up online and wish many of you Merry Christmas, and in some cases Happy Chanukah, personally to many of you. It's impossible to wish everyone Merry Christmas on SG personally, so please don't feel slighted if you didn't get a personal message. Then I played some Shadowrun: Dragonfall on Steam.
I briefly called my parents early this afternoon before we headed out to my brother's place for Christmas. We took the chicken tamales and my brother cooked a small turkey breast, a small ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, gravy, salad, cannolis (mint chocolate, vanilla chocolate chip and chocolate) and pumpkin pie. After dinner we exchanged gifts, plus what my mom sent us as well. My brother gave us a gift card to an Italian restaurant near our house that we like. My parents gave me a nice new on-camera flash and a $50 Amazon gift card. They gave Mrs. DeadGuitarist an Ulta gift card (probably $50) and a bracelet she's been wanting for quite some time.
Then we Facetimed with my parents for about a half an hour. It was really nice.
Then my brother, his friend Robert, me and Mrs. DeadGuitarist played Cards Against Humanity for 4 or 5 hours.
Above is one of the cards and responses I had to judge (there was one more response card, but these were the best two... it was a pretty hard decision, but I ultimately chose the top one.
Christmas was delicious and a lot of laughs! We all had a really good time and a lot of fun.
Well, that's what I did for Christmas. Tomorrow it's back to work.
What did you do for Christmas and what did the fat, jolly man in red (aka Santa) bring you?
Stay Tuned...
