Late last week, one of my molars started hurting pretty bad. It had been slight pressure and temperature sensitive for quite a while, but then it started hurting; about a 7 on the 1 -10 pain scale for about 5 minutes every so often. Then over the weekend those minutes of pain went away and were replaced with a dull ache most of the time
Went to the dentist today. Looks like the molar is cracked. ☹️ I had no idea it was cracked. Could have been that way for months. Thursday, I go back to the dentist for a root canal and a crown. Color me thrilled. ☹️ Insurance pays for half of the root canal procedure, but only 25% of the crown. The best, most durable crown will cost me almost $800 out of pocket. ☹️ It does come with a 5 year warrantee though. Total cost with the best crown is $1300. I'm seriously thinking about getting the second best crown. It's $200 cheaper and with a 1 year warrantee. Not really much savings; I save about $500 if I go with the cheapest crown, but I'm not sure if I want to go with it since it's not as durable and has no warrantee. So this whole thing isn't cheap. Good thing I FINALLY got my raise and 5 months of back pay today.
I can get $100 of the procedure and crown by donating a toy to the dental office's toy drive. Done. Got an Iron Man Titan Action Figure with lights and sound. Iron Man is my favorite Marvel superhero and has been since I was a kid.
But this sucks, not the cost... well, it sucks too. But even after eating soft food for a late dinner (chow mein and Kung Pao Chicken) and chewing on the opposite side of my mouth, it hurts. Any pressure makes it hurt, even slight pressure. Even barely touching my top and bottom teeth together hurts. 😫
I think I'll stick to a liquid diet until I get this thing fixed. Good thing I like Tropical Smoothie.
