This will be short as I need to get ready to take my mom to breakfast and back to the hospital to visit my dad.
My dad is doing extremely well. He was moved out of his ICU room into a regular hospital room last night, though not until after we left the hospital for the day.
His doctors think he will be able to go home Friday, tomorrow. Yippee!
Did I mention he had the A-Team ("I pity the fool!") of surgeons here in Memphis? He does!
I did get some work in yesterday, well, actually professional development studying since my project is in the deployment stage so there isn't any work to be done until we find out what is next on my client's agenda. Right now I'm learning about Git and Github. It's interesting and kind of fun.
But there I go again on a tangent. My dad has always been a mutant healer. That is, when he does get sick or needs procedures, he heals pretty quick and doesn't require a lot of pain medication (I take after him in that respect as well as many others). It doesn't happen very often, though as he's aged he's had more procedures more frequently. Getting old sucks. He still has a long road ahead, but the most life threatening part, the surgery to remove the sarcoma tumor is past and he's recovering well. He will have to come back in about 10 days for a skin graft over the surgical site and in late August or September he will start an intensive round of radiation treatments... 6 weeks and 5 days a week of radiation treatments. I think they are being especially aggressive with radiation to make sure 1) they get all of it and 2) prevent it from spreading into his right lung.
Ok, that's all for now. Gotta go. Thank you for all the love, prayers and sentiments.
Stay Tuned,
