I have been using some iteration of a Mac Book for three years.
I have never been a Fanboy and have always accepted the fact that whilst I prefer the Mac platform, Windows based PCs are equally good in their own way.
Since Mac OS upgraded to Lion, my opinion has completely switched.
In my opinion, Lion has made a previously simple, functional platform into a stupid mess of slowdown, occasional crashing and for some reason, strangely high resource use. My fans have started to go nuts for no discernable reason since the upgrade because the processor seems to heat up like I'm taxing the system (I should not be taxing an i7, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB 10000 RPM, 500 GB video card system doing the simple shit I do).
Not to mention the fact that Mac Mail is TERRIBLE and that Safari has become ridiculously unstable on my computer. I have run every single functional check on my system to find an error, but everything returns back fine.
The solution I found was to systematically stop using first party software in favour of third party programs (MS Office installed, using Chrome instead of Safari etc. etc. ) and lo and behold, by system is starting to stabilize. So long stupid spinning beach ball.
Long story short: Next time I'm in the market for a computer I'm going back to Windows, next time I'm in the market for a phone I'm doing anything but iPhone.
Fuck you Apple. You made a great product and have progressively making worse as time goes by.
I'm so damn mad about spending all this dough on this computer I'm not sure if there's anything Apple can do to redeem themselves in my eyes.
