So-o-o-o-o-o-o, gas prices.

Pretty high, right?

Well, people in Europe have been paying significantly more for fuel for AGES. I understand that $1.40/litre is pretty pricey, but the fact of the matter is that we're really just catching up with the lion's share of the world.
Hell, go to England, Italy anywhere in that part of the world, and they've been paying that much forever, and it's just getting higher for them.

In North America, we've been privy to low fuel and food prices for a long time, and with the impending shortage of fuel (we're not there yet folks; wait a decade) something has to give. So, we now have to pay more for fuel.

It's really just an unfortunate reality, but it's reality nonetheless. Complaining endlessly isn't going to drop the price significantly. Especially since, even if we find some gigantic deposit, the price will not drop a whole bunch, because that just means more profit for the oil companies. The days of less than a $1/litre are probably gone.

And if this discourages people from wasting fuel on short drives, and encourages the use of public transit, then great! We can walk and ride bikes and whatnot, perhaps be healthier, and put less pollution into the already concentrated atmosphere!

Woo hoo!

It's not that bad yet, folks.
We just have to suck it up and pay.

^^ And that's why I'm going to be riding on the back! biggrin

But you're right, something has to give. And I seriously do believe that the electric car is just under 10 years away. Especially when it comes to point where even "well off" folks can't afford the gas.
