What!

Awesome I know. Sadly, it actually reads "RENISON". I like my version better.
I watched "Donnie Darko" again on Saturday. I absolutely love that movie. It's a rare thing to find a piece of media that addresses such profound subject matter (death, afterlife, meaning, sacrifice, the soul) without focusing on God or religion.

A letter to my (newly elected) Member of Parliament :
Mr Woodworth,
As I'm sure you are aware, yesterday was Remembrance Day. At 11 am I took my time to remember the sacrifice of my grandfather's generation in World War 2 and those before him in World War 1.
When I got home from work and turned on the evening news, I was surprised at...

Did you really send this to Mr. Woodworth?
I want to add something, but I feel that to add to an opinion is just foolish. Kudos to this political rant, and I hope you're doing well.

I did send it and have yet to hear a reply.
And by all means, add something - this type of rant is practically begging for external opinions.
Your hand-written letter is almost finished.

Hear them rattle
These chains of living
Bound to every moment passed
Until the wreckage clamours
In deafening wake
And each stride trails
A dirge of the lost
House of Chains Fisher kel Tath

I think the basis of my whole argument is that religious people see a human being as made up of three parts - Mental, Physical, and Spirital whereas I would suggest that our "three parts" are actually: Rationall, Physical, and Emotional. And I also suggest that religion came from an overlapping of Emotional and Rational, as do things like music and art in general.

The basis for a good debate are parameters. I was not attempting to "talk at you". Merely converse.
Nor was I assuming your tendencies were toward organized religion. Nowhere did I assume that you were worshipping the Christian God. My arguments are leveled against all supernatural belief. In fact, they are leveled against any irrationality, be they religious, superstitious, or otherwise.
I am not attempting to change your mind. I am attempting to clearly communicate mine. I would qualify my stance in this topic as somewhat complex and difficult to grasp. It can take a long time to get it all out.
To put matters to rest, here's things in as much of a nutshell as I can manage:
- The supernatural, including the concept of any non-physical entities be they souls, ghosts, angels, or whatever, are figments of human imagination. Belief in them is no different than belief in - say - Harry Potter.
- Even if there were some existential "greatness" in the universe, worshipping it is undoubtedly a waste of time as would be - without a doubt - far beyond our ability to conceptually know. It would be like an ant worshipping the Internet... only worse.
- There is no overt purpose in life. Life is about living. Death ends you. Memories of you linger for a time but soon are gone as well. Your physical remains will decompose or burn and the energy held within the matter that comprises your body will transmute and dilute until every atom that makes up you is scattered and lost. This does not diminish the value of life. It increases it. Every moment of every life, human or otherwise is utterly unique and fleeting.
- Although I respect people's choice to believe whatever crap they want, I don't really have any respect for their beliefs themselves. Organized religion, psychics, spirit mediums, big foot, alien visitors, and crystal worshippers are all in the same category in my mind: people who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

I usually feel the same on issues that I am passionate about!
Two things which I find unwise to debate: Religion and Politics. Wars are started and many are harmed because of mans perception that their ideology on these topics is supperior in some way.
To not see any validity in anothers point of view or even better; in any view that challenges your own is not RESPECT my dear-and that(respect) is a topic worth debating!
I would imagine if we were face to face on this rather poignant discussion, this would be right about where I turned and walked away from you, without warning or regard to your delicate sensibilities-and where you grabbed me and shoved me against a wall.....
Which would be the only way you and I with our strong willls would be able to immediately occupy the same space peacefully!
I do thank you though, that was far more stimulating than this weekends PPV match

I drove through a murder of crows today. There were hundreds of them. On the sides of the road, in the trees - on the road itself. Everywhere. It was intense and I loved it. I should have gotten out of the car and walked around.
You know, I thought there was nothing worse than a preachy religious person. I've changed my mind. Worse are...

aaaaaaaa, i love to say "a muder of..." something.
puellaris:
oh man you're so, very, attractive.
I've started using a vaporizer. If you smoke pot and you've never tried this, you owe it to yourself to do so. Its pot smoking without the smoke. And the buzz is so physical! Without fail, I smoke this shit and get crazy horny.
Wow. I woke up to snow. In October.
puellaris:
only if it's you.
I'd clone myself if I could. Then maybe I'd double team a girl with myself. Epic.
solace:
It would be weird if she liked the cloned you better! Watch out!
david_prophet:
Then maybe I'd get into a fight with myself. But no one would have the upper hand. I'd know all my own tricks.
And in the shuffle, everyone would lose track of who is the real me and who is the clone. Maybe I wouldn't even know anymore.

So back at the beginning of the summer, during the San Diego Comic Con, Disney surprised everyone by revealing unannounced test footage of what they refer to as "Tr2n" - a direct sequel to the 1982 Disney flick with the cult status.
At the time the footage was leaked out onto the internet, nobody knew a whole lot about the sequel. There had been quiet...
