On the whole, I don't get Art. On the whole, I don't think Art is gettable unless you've studied Art History. I'm not sure it's worth my time and effort to learn how to get Art.
If someone were clueless about pop culture, could you, in good conscience, recommend that they watch thousands of hours of television and film in order that they could appreciate the pop culture references in a show like South Park?
I know so little about Art that I don't even know if that's a good analogy or not. I guess I'm being somewhat hyperbolic.
