took the day of today. well, actually it was decided for me by my boss. i went in at 5 am as usual and she asked me what happened. she just said to go home so i did. 
i couldn't get back to sleep so i read The Leper of Saint Giles. if you are not familiar with Cadfael series by Ellis Peters, the theme is about a welsh monk named Cadfael who is a brother at a monastery in the english town Shrewsbury, close to the welsh border. Using his expertise in flora and fauna and his wide ranging experience as a crusader and sailor, Cadfael untangles the webs of crimes that his secular counterparts cannot. well written and entertaining, i recommend.
around 1:30 i decided to take a walk to downtown books to see if they had anything good. i picked up the song of roland and the thousand and one nights. i guess ive been on a medieval kick lately. afterwards a wondered around aimlessly for a while and then got a soda and read. met up with my pal jamie later on for coffee and chat.
