Ugh. I miss her. It looks like we're not getting her home from the hospital as soon as I hoped. The dogs and I think there's too much room on this couch.

Overheard in my restaurant:

female server: I wish you'd been here to take that table at lunch who requested you. Those old peopl were mean.

male server: You gotta smack 'em around a bit. "Listen, I don't care if you're old - I'll break your hip!"

I don't know anything about Man U (as I don't watch soccer) but I'm assuming they've won a championship or something at some point in their history. The Canuck haven't. Ever. Made it to the finals twice but lost both times.

As for sending American douches to beat him up... that would require American douches to enter my country and I can't be having that.

Glad things are going well for you.

ARRR!!!

Happy New Year! Yes, I am a day late, but not a dollar short. I want for nothing in my life. 2010 is gonna kick ass.

Sage smudge & crystals in my pockets like the hippie that I am, but look out - I still bathe. wink

My life continues to be wonderful. I love and am loved. I want for nothing. I am safe, and working on healthy. I hope your life is wonderful this holiday season. Merry Christmas, kids.

Love, dats. kiss

It absolutely wasn't all bad, I'm just being dramatic. No worries about the time difference biggrin I will be awake.

In the summer of 2010 it's quite possible my father and I will be taking a road trip from Montreal or Chicago to California on Route 66, if so I plan to visit my West Coast peeps, and hopefully hit Bouchon and the French Laundry, etc. I'll keep you posted.

Ps. stay tuned for some food porn photos coming up. I have to wait until the month changes so I can upload some more photos to Flickr.

My life has been full to bursting lately with snuggles, morning coffee, wiggly dogs, being held tightly, friends, Christmas treats, wine, laughs, cute shoes, hard work, the occasional spooge joke, and a feeling that this is exactly where I'm supposed to be right now. I am extraordinarily happy. love

What is filling up your life these days?

I saw sunshine in the middle of the night last night. Yay.

I need to finish my Christmas shopping, but I'm broke. Today will involve crafty ideas for pressies.

I wanna make toffee. Actually, I wanna eat it, so I should make some first. Other people's toffee is a poor substitute for my own.

Team dats all the way, baby.

Toffee sounds like a wonderful gift! My family is not celebrating this year since money is tight, I have no idea what we are doing instead though. I need to find out and maybe bake something. There is only 3 of us so it should be simple enough!
melladoree:
Thanks! xo

What did you bake? I'm obsessed right now, I blame the cold weather and novelty baking accessories I keep acquiring.

Okay. Enough negative stuff. Now for a blog of random happy stuff about me. (In case you're wondering, my favorite journals that others post are often random collections of tidbits about themselves):

- I have a theory about the evolution of a joke: It's funny at first, then if you keep telling it, it stops being funny. But if you tell it even more,...

Thanks. My head is getting better. I'm starting to remember stuff again, which is a relief.

Sounds good. How are you planning on getting in? We could probably just meet up at BART, so which one's closer to you, Del Norte or El Cerrito Plaza?

And who else do you think we can coerce into coming?

So, as many of you know, I don't like to have grumpy journals. But something has been bothering me. I keep hearing people in the healthcare debate talk about rationing health care, and how we don't want the government getting involved because people won't have as much access to care.

Well..........I have roughly $180,000 of debt from health care bills.

Some of you remember that...

As a Canadian I truly do not understand a country that doesn't provide such a basic service for it's people. Especially a country that considers itself a leader in so many other ways.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this crap.

My 12 month old would be considered to have a pre-existing condition if we were trying to get her insurance right now (fortunately she's been covered since the day she was born) She's small. Not worryingly small, but still in the bottom percentile for weight. Most insurance companies deny anyone over the 95th and under the 5th percentiles for weight. It's crazy.
throttlebitch:
Lebkuchen?!? Can you sneak a couple without nuts for me if I ask real nice?

We could sit and rant for hours about the health care thing...when are you free? smile
