I guess I need to write a little bit about me on here so that people can get an idea of who I am other than what is on my profile.
I am a 42 year old Photographer/Artist who lives in Saint Louis Mo. I have 2 children one 18 on 15. My 15 year old Son lives with me and I am a single parent. I see art in almost all things, I know cliche' right, but it's true. Art has been a huge part of my life since I was a very young boy, I was surrounded by artist, painters, craftsman, sculptors my whole life. Like I said it is just a part of me.
Photography was always a draw to me (from stealing my moms Polaroid and spending all her film) to the cheap toy 35mm cameras. At the advent of digital cameras I began small of course feeling my way along until I was comfortable then moving into more advanced cameras. But to be honest I could never really shake the way an analog photo looked verses a digital. I wanted that feel for it in digital. So I decided to do something about it and learned all that I could about using photoshop and trying to recreate this vintage feel to modern shooting. Wet plate in particular, I soon learned that I had a digital darkroom and canvas and paint at my fingertips! Talk about excited...I screwed up so much I thought I would just give up and stick to out of the box shots...But my passion propelled me forward and I dug in deeper and deeper until I had something, then another, until finally I could reproduce the desired result with perfect execution each time. Self taught for the most part I wanted more, (usually the case for me) I took some classes, workshops, and hundreds of hours of tutorials to learn as much as possible. And well here I am now, I have shot 2 hopeful sets and have 4 more scheduled to shoot this year. My passion is art, and I love the muses I have worked with, we all have created beautiful pieces of art.
"This is Paon. One of my muses and one of my dearest friends who helped me onto the site. I'm excited for her relaunch. This has been a passion of her's for quite a while now, when she approached me to shoot her for this set I was just as excited and filled with enthusiasm as she was. I am honored to have done this and more with her. Shes been on a small hiatus and is ready for a comeback. She holds a special place in my heart for sure! Paon being my first hopeful shoot really has pushed me forward on wanting to shoot Suicide material, because of the way I look at the art in it all. She is a beautiful muse and I am looking forward to shooting with her and taking her to front page. So there you go a bit of me spilled haphazard about this blog so that you get a taste of who I am. I enjoy feedback and CC because it all makes you stronger in the end. ~DWE~
