A couple of years ago I donated bone marrow for some patient in the world. I was on a donor list and it was anonymous of course. Somehow they found out I was compatible with this other person on some place and I was asked to donate. I was curious of course about the person who was going to receive my so called "blood" and I asked about it but again I was told it was anonymous UNLESS, once the treatment was complete, the recipient decided to contact me.
Today I got a call from a family in Ireland thanking me for donating and helping save their youngest boy, Connor. I talked to him a little bit. He´s learning to play soccer and likes Star Wars. Seems he might have gotten something from me hahaha. Cool little guy. He thanked me again for helping me without even knowing him. He promised he´ll be a good boy and he´ll make his parents proud. I still got tears in my eyes.
Guys, to everyone reading. Enlist. Sign up as bone marrow donors. It doesn´t affect you, it doesn´t hurt, and you can make a difference in someone´s life. Like a BIG difference.
