So I currently have 2 sets in MR

Silvi - Silvi Strikes Back
and
Magpie - This Bird has flown

both of these sets are pretty darn special to me as I kinda feel like it's my best work and I also feel like i'm really starting to establish my own style of photography for this site, and it only took about a year and a half of shooting and roughly 20 sets to get it "Right"

and judging from the response, it seems that members are inclined to agree, and I couldn't be happier about how well they're doing... so thank y'all for your support on them, especially since it's been 3 years since either girl has put out a set..

so I wanted to talk a little bit more about both sets specifically.. i'll first talk about Silvi's because that one went up first!

This set was pretty much a long time in the making... I met Silvi way back at the beginning of June when we did
Girls in Hoodies, we had talked about doing a set when we shot this, but it seemed to take forever to get everything together for it, going through different ideas, trying to find a decent location, and all that fun stuff. We even tried to possibly throw it together on our trip to Los Angeles but that didn't pan out either because we weren't sure of locations or if we had enough time. Turns out we didn't have enough time in the 5 days we were down there but seeing how she's a Suicidegirl that doesn't live an hour away there was never pressure to have to get it done in X amount of time. Anyway tried to get it done before I headed to Portland but that didn't pan out either, but when it came down to it, we shot the set the day after I came home from Portland. First location didn't pan out, so I suddenly brainstormed that we should shoot it at my friends house in Emeryville. Unfortunately, she usually works on Saturdays, and my friend was only going to be available that Saturday. So I had to check with her if that day worked, and lo and behold she actually randomly had the day off. So yes, everything was set and we met up that Saturday and headed an hour into the East Bay. As soon as I get there and scope the location out and start to setup everything.... i realized that my battery in my Canon 5d was stone dead... lithium batteries sometimes give you false charge readings, and this had happened to my battery, and for some reason I didn't pack my spare battery or charger... so I was freaking out, and tried to see if there were any camera stores nearby, of course there wasn't and the closest thing that might have had batteries was Best Buy, of course since my camera model is a bit older, they didn't have that battery charger...... Well the Gods must've decreed that this set be shot, because it turns out my friend's roomate had recently gotten a Rebel t2i, so i slapped on my 35mm, and went to work. Everything about this set worked perfectly, the lighting was AMAZING, I expected to do a simple window lit set but there was an extra element with lighting coming from another window source that was direct and it bounced off the floor and onto her, giving her a complete wrapped in light look like you see in this picture (and one of my favorites from the set)

anyway everything worked out, and both Silvi and I were really pleased with the results, check out the set yourself and leave some love. I even threw together the little bit of Jedi powers idea semi last minute. We had talked about incorporating that in somehow before so it would be more than just a set with a t-shirt and the set being a Star Wars reference just because she was wearing a t-shirt. I also didn't want to do any crazy photoshopping because of the mixed responses about the set with Persephone, so hinted Jedi powers seemed to work out just fine. I just hope the majority of people got that reference.

anyway there you have it, I kinda feel aside from a couple of not as focused as I would like photos, which I blame on the fact I was using a camera I never used before, and also using "live view" on the camera to compose a shot which is completely new to me was a bit of a new challenge. Regardless that little camera impressed the hell out of me, and motivated me to buy the Canon 7d, which I got last week, but still have yet to try it out. I think Silvi and I will be shooting a little something this upcoming weekend though, I don't think for SG or anything but for ports and I will be making movies... once I get the hang of this whole video editing thing I'm hoping to be able to shoot mini movies the accompany my upcoming SG sets. The most i've used this camera for was shooting our pets playdate they had with each other recently.

Her pet chihuahau is a white dog and named Pixie. My cat is black, and is named Pixel. Of course they had to meet...

so stupidly adorable they were. Towards the end of the night we'd throw a ball and they'd both chase after it, and occasionally they'd give each other kisses with a quick nose tap. haha..Pixel was looking around for her new playmate when they left. Anyway I'm sure we'll have another playdate for them soon. Haha I digress...

anyway once again, if you haven't checked out the set I encourage you to do so! It really is my favorite set I've shot for this site... crossing my fingers for it to go up as set of the day, it would mean the world to us!

Silvi - Silvi Strikes Back

my commentary on Magpie's set tomorrow... maybe.. it took me a lot to get to writing this thing just because I havent been in a writing mood lately. I started a new job which consists of me getting rid of teenages pimples in photoshop for 8 hours a day, its really kinda mind numbing and when I get home I don't feel like opening photoshop at all, hence why i'm lagging on some of the other sets i've shot... so SORRY LADies for lagging! I hope to get to finishing another one this week though!
