I hate the world sometimes .. seriously this fucking douchebag pisses me off.. I'm sorry he couldn't make friends and get a girlfriend or anything but that's seriously no excuse to do what he did. I haven't had the best luck with women but you don't see me stabbing every single one i come across (heh that would probably not make me the best photographer to work with tongue )

anyway on and on.....
It's theme week on SG! First two days have been Rigel, and Lavonne, who are both on my 'faves' list so you won't see me bitching. I'm interested in seeing what else they think is 'reinventing the photoset'. I wish they gave like a staff critique on them, to me that aspect is interesting... although I don't know how many member care and just want to see bewbs.

Good news is coming soon you'll have to wait to see what it is!

Doxie is coming to california, and we have a shoot scheduled! The idea is pretty neat, and could be cool if pulled of well... at least that's what I'm hoping!

I need to figure an extremely kickass idea for Zippo.... there's traces of what could be good ideas but nothing extremely solid yet. More importantly getting her from TX to CA.

So i'm going to do like a 'Wednesday Darryl's set of the week' in where I talk about a certain favorite set of mine, give it my persona critique and why i 'loved it' so I may as well get started now...


Rigel - Vs Aliens

This set came out like the week I signed up for SG. I was still kinda familiarizing myself with the site, the photographers and figuring out which girls were popular what they did etc. I knew about Rigel from some stuff I saw through Cymagen's work but didn't know she was staff here. At any rate she was an instant fave and this set helped cement it. Also I knew of Cherry before signing up for the site because of the Italian Villa DVD, but I wasn't extremely familiar with her work.. boy had I been missing out. She's quickly become one of my favorite photographers.



So this set combines everything I like in a photoshoot. Great lighting, a solid concept/theme that doesn't detract from the overall idea of what Suicide Girls is about. Concept shoots like this have always attracted me the most when it comes to shooting. My editorial work always tries to combine some sorta narrative, sometimes it works sometimes its kinda sketchy. I've always had an issue with coming up with a 'set' for them that narrates them with natural progression of images. I always just tend to throw out the rest of them and keep like 3 of the best from the shoot and. Anyway this set represents what I'm also not very good at...



First thing that most people might not notice off the bat is that its cropped with a wider aspect ratio, and its shot in all landscape style mode which I personally defer to a lot. This gives the set more of a movie-esque feel which I also love in photoshoots. I think part of the problem I have with shooting in portrait mode is that i'm more influenced by movies than photographs as far as visual style is defined. So to find a set like this the combines both photography and cinema is what really speaks to me. Also the colors of this set are amazing, especially the few with her red underwear, i may have to actually check out those cherry tutorials in the editing group at some point. Anyway i fuckin love this set.... all around... favorite model favorite photographer great theme... and i love the alien towards the end



anyway if that was interesting to anyone I'll do one a week... wednesday, at least thats my proposed plan for now...

OK, so I read your blog after posting the congrats... I too LOVE that Rigel VS Aliens set; Idon't remember if I noticed that all the shots were landscape, but I do always notice the wide aspect ratio, and Cherry's tendency towards the cinematic. Maybe I didn't notice because it doesn't seem unusual to me, as I also tend do default to landscape. I almost have to force myself to shoot portrait. While I've always loved movies, I can't profess to be a huge cinema buff; but still, it must be a subconscious influence...

So how does it feel to have your set go live?!?!?! Congrats its about time that set spent too much time in member review!! I would say lets celebrate and buy you a drink, but it will take me a a few months before a scrounge out the cash for a ticket and squeeze zippo in my bag.
