Star Trek was awesome!
Being a somewhat closeted Trekkie, I was kind of always on the fence about some of the stuff. I never really got into the original series but knew a lot about characters and references. I really liked TNG, but didn't pay much attention to DS9 or Voyager. But I did see all of the movies and about 50% of them are.... pretty bad....
I went to a Star Trek panel at Wondercon, and was still on the fence about the new movie because the original trailer made it seem like it would be just another stupid action movie that could possibly ruin the franchise all together. I'm glad to see that I was wrong and that JJ Abrams and crew not only saved a dying franchise (that studios were actually TRYING to get rid of and/or send it out to the pasture for good and with the series Enterprise who could blame them?) made it 'cool to like', and completely reboot the storyline.
To say the least, I was surprised and pleased with it.
Anyway I've been really amused by this stupid internet youtube site lately. Its so retarded and genius at the same time haha
