So here it is, 5 in the morning and I can't sleep. I've been playing this game called Outlast and as much as I love a good survival horror game I know it's going to keep me up at night. Best/worst part is I'm only like 1 hour into the game and it's already petrifying, lol. It takes place in an insane asylum run by a cover organization for the government (least it seems that way) where some sick and crazy testing is being done on some unfortunate yet seriously disturbed patients. Obviously things went wrong and now the asylum is now being run by the patients. My only weapon is my ability to run and hide from them as they slowly stalk me throughout the halls. Some of them come directly at me howling with blood lust and others just sit staring off into space. The psychological aspect of seeing someone twitching and groaning in a wheel chair in the middle of a hallway that you have to pass by is terrifying. Maybe he will jump up to attack me as I inch by, maybe he will just stay in his own little world.
Horror has always been my favorite genre of movies and once video game technology became good enough to actually make games scary I quickly became a huge fan. A well crafted horror story, no matter what the format, is always worth experiencing for a little escapism.
Anyhow, back to the asylum. :)
