I'm thinking now in a very abstract way. As I've said before reality is a fickle bitch but I've had some crazy revelations over the past couple of days. It's like I've entered into an intellectual fugue where I can still function on a day to day basis (I'm actually kicking major ass at work and expect a huge promotion soon) but my world view is changing drastically. I haven't felt like this since I was a teenager and I realized that "God" and the Christian view of the world was all a farce. In my life I've believed in many things; some of them were vastly condemned by those around me until they were irrefutably shown to be just or true, other things have crumbled away and given rise to new beliefs. Some of those new beliefs were creations of others (I've always joked that I'm only one thoroughly constructed argument away from changing my views but it's true) and others are just my attempt to piece together the great puzzle of existence given the evidence at hand. So I'm going to post the top things I've learned lately that are now changing my world view.
1. The differences we use to divide ourselves are pure semantics. Let's face it, even if you and someone else don't agree on anything you can still work together to accomplish an end. This is the principle society, government, and the common workplace is based on. Cooperation for mutual gain without exploitation of any party. Heck, even our bodies are an example of many different things working in perfect unison to achieve an end greater than the sum of any individual part.We can do it to accomplish any means and my proof of concept is ants. No single ant comprehends the course of their actions but as an entire colony they achieve ends beyond the means of any individual member. Imagine if humans could replicate those results.
2. As much as we think we know, we know nothing. I don't say this because I think it's entirely true, it's more of a mantra. I say this because I've observed that many things we've learned throughout history have been proved to be wrong. In fact, things I've learned in my lifetime at school (things that were presented as 'facts') were proved to be wrong. The reason this is a mantra for me is that I've found that when I think I know what's what I grow complacent, I stop searching. It is then that something happens to show me that I'm wrong. Just in my lifetime alone we've found that dolphins are pretty much every bit as sentient as we are, we've discovered that NASA has been vastly holding out on us all these years, experiments with the LHC prove the Higgs field exists which changes the very nature of how we view matter, and it was discovered that stem cells can be harvested from previously unknown sources. These 3 discoveries have rewritten our understanding of life and the world around us. I wonder what we will discover in the next 30 years.
3. Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. It might seem crazy but these 3 laws can explain almost anything. Most only view this principle in a very rudimentary way though. Sure if I were to throw something or hit something these laws would explain the effects of such an event but there is another level. Humans are beings of infinite energy and though we often forget it there isn't anything else like us in the "known" universe (besides dolphins). We can manipulate reality in a way no other creature can. Without even being alive the energy of a living being can change the face of reality. How? Ever read a book from hundreds of years ago and feel moved by it? Well then the energy of a person that existed long ago has kept moving forward without meeting an equal or opposing force all these years. Basically it can be as simple as an apple falling from a tree or a memory with profound implications.
That's all for now. I'm still trying to sort out the rest and I'm not even sure if this all makes sense.
