So, I had an interesting conversation at work today that was started by something ridiculous a customer of mine said to me the other day.
See, I work in a big Christian town. I get shit about my plugs all the time from all these overpriviledged, middle age soccer moms. They don't know I have tattoos, thank god, since I have to keep them covered up at work.
I've been told, however, that since I have body modifications (I had told this woman I have tattoos) that I am going to hell because it is going against the bible. Yes, someone told me this to my face.
Well, the other day, this woman is in with her obnxious, poorly behaved children and as I'm sitting right in front of her, she leans over to her daughter and says
"Honey, do you see how big her ears are? Do you think God made a mistake on her and made her ears too big? I think so."
Now, I'm sitting here completely dumbfounded that someone would be so rude to actually say that right in front of me, and point at me like I'm a fucking animal in a zoo. So fed up, I just smile and say:
"Yeah, god made a lot of mistakes on me" and walked away.
Needless to say, I was pretty annoyed. So today, I saw my boss for the first time since then and I was telling him what had happened and we had a good laugh over how ignorant she was. Then we got into a conversation about Christianity and how much it contradicts itself. I cannot stand it. All these bible-thumpers look at me and automatically think 'sinner' or 'heathen' but they don't know me at all!
Now, I don't believe in heaven or hell, and I don't believe in the bible, but still. What the fuck is wrong with these people?
So god loves everyone, right? What about gays? Or people of other religions? Frankly, I just don't understand it. I love how people can use the bible as an excuse to be ignorant fucks.

It's too bad really. I've met some christians that are actually pretty nice folks without all the bigotry that seems to be rampant in those groups.
It does remind me of a cartoon I saw in playboy about 30 years ago, back when super-glued hair spikes were the big deal.
There were three spiked up kids and a little girl with her mother on a street corner. The little girl is looking at them and saying, "But Mommy, why do they dress like that if they don't want to be stared at?"
