If you don't want a dog, DON'T FUCKING GET ONE.
I just got home from work and I'm a little peeved in case you can't tell. I had this ridiculously sweet, well behaved Bichon in today and the fucking guy at drop off goes "Yeah, I wanted a dog, but I got this instead" and kinda nudged her with his foot. I took her straight back and gave her the best pampering day of her life, I'm sure. The poor girl's skin was so red and irritated and she had hot spots all over so I gave her a good scrub down and tried my best to fix what her owner had done. She ended up looking BEAUTIFUL and I got so attatched to her.
Well, the guy left her there for EIGHT FUCKING HOURS. Poor thing looked so sad in her cage, so I kept going back whenever I had the chance to cuddle her and give her treats, but she wouldn't eat the treats. She didn't know how to respond to affection and I almost cried.
So, the guy picks up and I say "Just so you know for next time, it's really unhealthy to leave her here for this long" and the guy gets pissed at me! Fuck you dude. I talked her up so much to him, told him he's lucky to have a dog like her. Didn't even fucking thank me.
He honestly gave me the creeps, too. He was super fucking tall, balding, pedophile glasses, and gray teeth. He smelled like serial rapist to me.
I hate that part of my job. I hate having to give dogs back to people that obviously don't care about them. I wish I could save all the animals.

He probably wanted a 'bad ass' dog to make himself feel cool. People exhibit this attitude with all kinds of 'possessions', it's just such a tragedy when it's a living soul that has no choice in the matter, and probably doesn't realize the failing is not theirs, poor little puppy. Very sad.
