Hello SG world! Seems I only manage this about once a year anymore...I should try to improve on that. So, 2019 and grad school: it's been rough.
First, though, there have been some good things since last June.
We finished up the background color on my half-sleeve. š
And I got another piece on my calf:
It didn't heal spectacularly well, but we'll touch it up in early August when I'm home in Colorado.
That, unfortunately, brings me to the worst of the last year-and in fact the worst day of my life. The portrait wasn't intended as a memorial, but my fur-baby, my world, my precious one, Nikolai the Bastard Eunuch Cossack Prince of Doom died in March. On pie day, too. It's been more than three months and it still rips my heart out.
I'm getting a memorial based on this last picture tattooed on my chest when we fix my calf piece.
School has been absolutely killing me, too. I'm questioning myself and my abilities in a BIG way right now. Plus, I still feel socially isolated, like the people who have become my friends at school really just put up with me. And I can't fully get over one special (terrible? I don't know) woman who wants little to do with me, but does know how to play me quite well.
Now, if you've actually stuck through this mass of depressing bullshit, a slightly lighter note:
I shaved my beard for the first time in almost 12 years! I didn't like the clean shaven feel much, I'm growing something new while I'm in the field for the summer.
It's more neck-beard than anything right now, but I'm hoping...
