I've been very interested to see what everyone's response to this blog homework has been, thanks to @missy and @rambo for the idea.
I hope to be remembered for my writing, most of which has yet to be accomplished. I am in the process of writing a series of (if I say so myself) epic fantasy novels, which will hopefully one day progress to publication. I have a number of other projects in mind, but that's my baby. It's been a challenge to get to the point of actually writing, but I'm pleased to say that I've done it.
I would also like be remembered for my contributions to my chosen field, archeology. Currently I do what's known as CRM, or cultural resource management, which is archaeology performed ahead of development. While I love my work and find it very fulfilling I wish that I was able to direct my own research.
I am part of a growing group of archaeologists who believe that the first people to enter the Americas migrated along the coast of the land bridge, rather than through the middle of it. While there is a veritable mountain of evidence supporting this theory, it remains largely inferential evidence. I would like to change that. I want to be the one to find definitive evidence (a boat dating to that migration would be nice). Folks have been looking for such evidence for about 50 years, thus far unsuccessfully, but why couldn't it be me, right?
To this end I'm hoping to get accepted to graduate school this year. Fingers crossed!
