- 180 people were swallowed by the earth while hundreds more looked on in terror as a mudlisde enveloped their town in Indonesia
- At least 134 people were killed in suicide bombings in Iraq. Can you even imagine feeling so desperate that the only way you think your life can have meaning is to end it in a message noone will hear...
- At least 76 people died and 62 were injured when a building collapsed on tourists making a spiritual pilgrimage to Mecca
- 15 people died in Germany when a skating rink collapsed.
- Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had a stroke that will now lead to war in Israel. Pat Robertson said the stroke was God's way of punishing Sharon for not giving it to the Christians. (Robertson is also the guy who called on the US to kill Chavez cause he wouldnt sell oil to the US before the poor were looked after... quite the sacred attitude)
- In China, finishing stages of the Yangtze dam took place. A project that has made extinct the Yangtze dolphin and will destroy the Yangtze Porpoise population, a species unique to China.
Now... I'm not saying the incident at the mine wasn't terrible... but I think it's important to remember that the world is a tragic place. It's sad, but it keeps spinning, and just because it's not happening next door, doesnt mean it's not important.
And for any Robertson supporters... An often quoted but seldom implemented piece of Christian Literature...
"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do to Me." (Mt. 25:40)

Would you trust someone that said there was a huge flood, and to save all the animals on earth, a male and female of all the billions of species were put on one boat for 40 days (or whatever, I forget how it ended)? You probabaly couldn't fit a billion pop cans on that thing, never mind animals.

Have you heard of the show Bullshit? They had an interesting episode about the bible. I don't know if you can get it on TV in Canada, but you can buy DVDs.
