Seeing as October is my favorite month due to the fact that Halloween is my favorite holiday, during the duration of my three day weekend off from work, I contributed to this weekends box office grosses by venturing to see two horror films; Zombieland and Paranormal Activity. I couldn't help myself, I have to take in as many horror films this month as possible, it is customary.

Zombieland- Stupidity of human nature during a zombie apocalypse provides for some hysterical moments including being eaten alive while dropping the kids off at the pool. While the movie wasn't in shortage of funny moments or zombie death, I couldn't help but to notice the film sort of lacked any type of memorable moments to distinguish it from just "another zombie movie". Though the zombie sub-genre has maintained as a heavy hitter among horror fans, Zombieland fared in my opinion as a decent flick for the Halloween build-up. Without completely discrediting the film, I have to say that the Bill Murray cameo was by far the best part of the movie. So for the nine or ten bucks you'll pay to get in, it will be worth learning some basic rules to live by if/when the zombie apocalypse comes.

Paranormal Activity- Considering I had only seen one preview for this movie before walking into the theater, I didn't really have any idea what I was to expect. And since movies stopped scaring me when I was 12, I haven't had a hard time keeping my eyes glued to the screen, which is what I did during what is said to be an hour and forty minutes... seemed a lot shorter to me for some reason. While there are very few actors and actresses in the film it was able to hold a substantial amount of suspense til the very end. At first it may seem like a good idea to film your possibly possessed house, but after a few weeks of no sleep due to demonic occurrences you might want to invest your money into some anti-demon spray.
All in all, it was a eye opener til the very end, but after you watch it, the suspense will have diminished significantly and you'll realize that this was one of those films that you'll probably only watch once.

Oh, and on top of that I got to see Dethklok with Mastodon on Saturday. This was the fifth time I had seen Mastodon and they're shows just keep getting better. I love how Mastodon and Dethklok had a show on top of a show, I mean seeing Dethklok was like watching a really long episode of Metalocalypse. And they played Hatredcopter. FTW
Just for the record I think this is the longest journal entry I've ever posted on SG... cool
