I saw your thread in the tattoo group, and personally I think you should get it shaded just black and gray. I think it looks classier, and colored-in sometimes makes it look too cartoony. Then if it still didn't pop like you want, think about shading the rose in, just a touch, with red. But that's just my opinion and of course it doesn't matter one tiny bit, since it's your tattoo.
And I just have pets too, and love it that way.
