I've had an art critic guest in my apartment for a few days, with his artist girlfriend and my artist roommate and as you can imagine this generated a lot of talks about what art is and what can define a good artist and how important in an artist's success is the role of his gallery or agent or the critics themselves.

it was really interesting and much too articulate to expose it all here, we are all people who care for what they do, even the critic (heheee).

there are issues with art that I still struggle to define and resolve, myself working in the movie industry and doing gory special effects among regular pretty make ups (which many of you ladies know me for). one of these issues came up after the train bombing in madrid two years ago after seeing close ups of badly injured people on news papers and thinking that I didn't want to help people get used to real wounds and blood and death with my own work, I decided that I'd take part in blood bash movies only if they had a reason to exist, too many atrocities are already thrown into our faces without us even noticing and I don't think we need any more detachment from our own people.
I firmly believe that as much as informations need to travel and be public, there needs to be a deep respect for pain and loss and other people's emotions.
