Running from October 18th-28th, Quarter Century is the story of 6 friends in their mid-twenties coming to grips with this thing called "adulthood." Written by me, starring myself, Michele, and Masquerade, it'll be a a bloody good time. Worry not, longer plugs are on the way. Oh yes.
Coming to you live from the heart of Times Square, on day 3 of my New York odyssey. But we'll discuss that later. Right now I want to flash back a week, to that long feared day known as my 30th birthday.
There are days my friends displease me. There are days I wish them ill. But after last Friday, I have to say... I've... Read More
Some people think that the least interesting thing you can do is discuss your dreams. Well, at least one person. Who, admittedly, is a complete wanker. But others disagree. Frankly, I've had a few dreams I'm pretty sure were fascinating. I've gotten a few dreams out of But here's the rub: evn my most coherent dreams suffer from a certain...... Read More
What kind of food do you like? It is your birthday after all. What night is the party going to be? I want to make sure I can attend.
Let's see, downtown restaurants. For a big group?
I need more info.
Ever been to Casbah? It's tasty and fun.
I like the Coup, but it's small.
Sushi might be fun or Indian. Of course, you might hate all of these ideas.
Give me a better idea of what you like and I'll come up with better suggestions.
Coming to you live from the Edmonton thunderstorm.
About to wrap up my '06 fringe experience. Saw a veritable assload of shows, with or without JDRook and/or Masquerade & her man, came across carla and glass_cat on occasion.
My own Calgary Fringe show wrapped up on Saturday. It went well. You should've seen it, it was cool. Looking forward to rehearsals starting for the next... Read More
Yes, the fringe show was cool. Did you guys have fun afterwards? I wanted to go, but I had eaten almost nothing. Plus I had a bunch of crazy painkillers in my system.
I can't wait to start rehearsals for the next show.
Busyness. Such busyness. Let's see if I can hit the highlights.
Canada Day: 'Twas fun. Even got talked onto the shirtless balcony after carla called me out. Attendance does seem to be dwindling at these events... kind of sad, but what can you do.
Fun in the sun on Monday resulted in some serious sunburn, but at least not as bad or inconvenient as Masquerade... Read More
see, my karaoke problem is that in the middle of me singing a song they come up and say "have sex with me right now!" Now, I hate to interrupt a song but they get quite insistant sometimes.
My solution was to sing a little less awesome whenever there are hotties approaching. Purely self defence. Now if you see me at karaoke and I screw up you'll know why.
Friends had a housewarming party Saturday night. There was drinking. There was twirling of glowsticks. There was a hot tub. Which made it reminiscent of early Scorpio parties from 5 years back... except when people started getting naked, there seemed to be more of a point to it.
I drank only enough to be perpetually cheerful and slightly off-balance but not get sick. The hostess... Read More
Well, if the worst I did was tell you to go onto a topless patio... well... worse things could happen.
I need to suggest however that you go and see "Full Metal Jacket" soon if you haven't, however; it is a war movie focusing on vietnam but has spawned more quotable lines than, to my knowledge, any other. Check it out at your local video store.
So how's the new employment going? Are you going to sleep the instant you get home? I always end up doing that for the first couple of weeks after I start having to be up in the mornings. It wears off.
Now I'm as fond of irony and paradoxes as anyone, but this one's just irritating. Let's start from the beginning, yeah?
As I mentioned last time, Saturday was club night and went quite late. This would've been fine, were it not for father's day brunch at 11:00 the next morning. So, not a lot of sleep, and then we're into my work week. I'd get... Read More
First off, Scorpio Theatre's Annual General Meeting. Next year's season is basically set, although our March show still has a tinge of doubt to it. The script we've chosen is the most ambitious we've tried to date, but if mid-October rolls around and it looks like we can't afford it we'll have to switch to the contingency plan. Which... I'm not quite as confident about directing again as I'd like, but hopefully that will return in time. We're looking at filming a documentary about making a play, but I chose not to use this particular production. I think in the final analysis I was concerned that I'm already going to be self-conscious enough being atristic vision/authority figure for this show... Read More
I'm also okay with no documentary. Filming the inevitable Fringe show internal drama just smacks of reality TV to me. Also, this soon after Pride, it feels a wee bit dja vu.
Jebus, new format. Scared me there. And now, an update on Operation: Fix My Gorram Life.
Condo? Dates are set, my internet amigos. I take possession on July 13th, and move in on the 16th. In one short month I shall be free of Rainbow Manor and set up in my swank new digs. Let's just hope I unpack a little faster than last time.... Read More
