So last time I alluded to the fact that my last play, the Spy Who Left Me, was nominated for some Cattie awards. It was towards the end, if you didn't make it that far I hardly blame you. What are the Catties, you say? They're the Calgary ACTS Awards, a recognition of excellence in community theatre here in Calgary. We are up for:
Best play
Best director
Best Leading Actor
Best Leading Actress
Best Ensemble/Chorus
Best Stage Manager (ME!)
Best Lighting Design
Best Sound Design (ME!)
Best Original Script (ME ME ME!)
The ceremony's Saturday, August 20th. We're gonna get creamed. Should be fun. If you're now growing curious about the show, WHERE WERE YOU WHEN IT WAS RUNNING? Er... ahem... what I mean is, I do have a recording of the play on VHS and DVD. Screenings could be arranged.

Sadly, the timing of the ceremony means I have to miss out on a weekend of fun in Edmonton. Sadly enough, the festivities will be ending right as I arrive in the city on Sunday the 21st. Ah well, what can you do...

Before I go, this is an insight I've been grappling with, and sometimes sharing with friends in crisis. Emotions are important, they're what make us who we are... but they are tricksy and false. They will lie to you, they will lead you astray... it may seem cold, but sometimes we're better off ignoring them, even shutting them off completely. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
