Before I get started here, I'd like to suggest y'all head over and give a big hello to Masquerade. She's new and pretty cool.

So. One of my new actor friends read my script, the Very Long Night of Tyler and Selena yesterday, and before he was halfway through became driven to see it turned into a movie. Yes, with him in the lead, but that's neither here nor there. I'd always half-thought of it as a movie anyway, so of course I agreed this should happen. We've picked locations, half the cast, are figuring out props... we've got leads on 3 possible cameras, he's got access to lighting... it doesn't seem hard.

It never seems hard.

So now I began to seek out those I can reach with some experience in these matters, see if I can figure out what the roadblocks we haven't forseen are and how to best address then when they come lurching at us from out of the night, tar-like fingers clinging to our throats, a scream of legal ramifications piercing the air, financial woes and death in their eyes.

Because at one point or another, it will be hard. I know this for a fact. Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Except sitting on the couch and playing Ape Escape, but that's only worth doing in the short term.

But here's the thing: hard or not, I choose to believe that we can pull this off, and here's why: A) Robert Rodriguez, Sam Raimi, Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith all got their start when they said "Fuck it, I'm going for it," and B) Next year, despite my best efforts to prevent it, I'll be 30. And I'd like to have one damn thing to show for it.

Besides, long-time reader will recall my New Year's resolution to not let fear stand in my way any more, and I'd like to not screw that up twice.
