Let me just bend your ear for a moment about what I think will be my guiding principle for the next few years.

New ideas for a new century.

Everywhere you look, people cry out for traditional values. I think if you take a quick look at human history, any value labelled "traditional" will fall apart pretty fast. By way of a for instance, take a look at gay marriage. People trying to prevent gays from having the right to publicly declare their love and commitment use the "traditional definition of marriage" as a shield. Well, I think Rueben Bolling, creator of Tom the Dancing Bug, hit the nail on the head when he described the traditional definition of marriage as "an exchange of property between parents of strangers."

Really. The sancitity of marriage is threatened by gay people? Between the 50% divorce rate, Who Wants to Marry a Multi-millionaire, and the endless iterations of Bachelors and Bachelorettes, haven't straight people pretty much killed whatever sanctity this ceremony might once have had?

So to hell with traditional definitions. To hell with puritan morality. It's a new century. Can I please have some new ideas. Thank you and goodnight.
