Mission accomplished. We made it: all three extended Lord of the Rings movies in one sitting. A power outage in Gina's neighbourhood tried to foil us, but to no avail. Just one little problem... Return of the King wrapped up at 4 AM, 8 hours before I had to be back at work in Calgary.
So I made a vow to myself: next time I book off a weekend to go to Edmonton, remember to book off Monday afternoon to drive home! Three times I've done this, three times I haven't gotten much sleep before leaving, three times I've started getting sleepy by the time I reach Airdrie, and three times the weather's tried its best to bring me down before Red Deer. Snow got so bad Monday morning I couldn't actually see the trucks kicking it up on the road, just the white cloud in their wake. Had to slow down to, like, 130 until it cleared...
It's a day later, I'm still not awake, and I have to get up at 7 to run a bingo with JDRook tomorrow, followed by another 12 hour shift at the Moviedome. But hey, if you're in the Calgary area over the holidays, I'd reccomend swinging by the Moviedome for What the Bleep Do We Know, an interesting little documentary about how our thoughts affect not only us but the world around us. And starting Friday, only four dollars (2 in the afternoon or Tuesday).
