I understand that Canadian airlines are required by law to repeat everything they tell us in French.

I just don't feel that I should be required to listen.

These choose-your-own entertainment personal TV screens they have on some Air Canada flights are a godsend, the beginning of a golden age. No longer must I wait for the news in English and French to wrap up so that I can watch a movie I'm vaguely interested in just to pass the time. No, I can watch what I like! A selection of movies and TV shows, enough to fill any flight! (especially since, for some unknowable reason, this option is not present on longer flights. Why?)

So maybe you don't need to pause my TV so that I can listen to connection information I don't need in a language I don't speak. Tell me everything you just said in French if you must: just let me watch my Corner Gas episode while you do so. Is that asking so much? Have we come so far only to say "no, this thing cannot be done?"

Not much else to report vis a vis my trip to Vancouver. Really wasn't there long enough to get up to any shenanigans. Surely is a pretty city, though, and we did see those raccoons. Which were trying to mate, if only the crowd of humans would disperse and let them get on with it. Good times.
